Legal and Court Management
The legal and Court Management Section of the Division exists to perform two (2) main functions; Litigation and Alternate Dispute Resolution. In matters relating to litigation, the schedule officer plays the role of a solicitor (by conducting due diligence, Legal auditing and prognosis, Perusals of documents, Out of Court Attendances, Preparation of briefs for courts, Preparation of witness statements, pre-trial checklist, Preparation of witnesses for Pre-trial and Hearing). The officer is also responsible for compliance and processing (Searches, Filings, Procurement of Rulings, Orders and Judgments, and Enforcement). In addition, the officer is in charge of advocacy and court attendance (thus Watching Brief, Motions, Pre-trial conferencing, Trials, Defence and Prosecution of Claims).
In matters relating to Alternate Dispute Resolution, the schedule officer represents KNUST at an Early Neutral Evaluation proceeding; conducts negotiation on behalf of KNUST, handles/represents KNUST at conciliation proceedings, mini-trials, mediation and arbitration proceedings.
