College of Science
The College of Science is one of six Colleges of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Originally established as the Faculty of Science in 1961, the College assumed its current status, following the restructuring of the University into six colleges in December 2004. It has approximately 150 academic staff and a student population of nearly 3500.
The College has a huge alumni, many of whom are engaged in various sectors of the national economy and around the globe. The College has over the years built a high reputation as a centre of excellence for the training of basic and applied scientists and has produced a large number of graduates for various sectors of the national economy, and internationally.
Mission, Vision and Objectives
- The Mission of the College is to provide high quality teaching, research, entrepreneurship training and service; and to develop programmes in the pure and applied sciences for the industrial and socio-economic development of Ghana and Africa.
- The College offers students the opportunity to discover and fulfil their potential, and provides access to a first class education in science for people of diverse age, ethnicity, and academic preparation.
- The Vision of the College is to produce high calibre science graduates to support and sustain the industrial and economic development of Ghana and Africa.
- Our ultimate Goal is to become a centre of excellence for the training of high calibre science graduates, critical to the industrial and economic development of Ghana and Africa.

The College Registrar serves as the Registrar’s representative in the College under the leadership of the Provost. He is the head of the general administration of the College and perform the role of the Chief Administrative Officer of the College under the Provost. In the discharge of his duties, the College Registrar is assisted by two (2) other Registrars.
The Faculty Registrar, under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty, is the head of the general administration of the Faculty. He is a Member/Secretary of the Faculty Board and other Committees within the Faculty. Without prejudice to the role of the Dean, the Faculty Registrar reports to the College Registrar.
