Students Affairs Division
The Student Affairs Division exist to facilitate provision of student-centered services under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Affairs. The Division is currently headed by a Deputy Registrar with the mandate to;
- provide strategic planning with respect to meeting the needs of students
- coordinate the activities of student affairs, student financial services and counselling centres
- coordinate the work of student associations/groupings and ensure they conform to the rules and regulations as spelt out by the Academic Board
- liaise with Halls of Residence on accommodation of students; administer the Student’s Guide
- maintain and update students’ records
- supervise the issuance of introductory and attestation letters for students on request to diplomatic missions in Ghana and abroad, and other organizations
- prepare and publish academic materials, including the Handbook on Regulations for Courses of Study for Junior Members in consultation with the University Relations Office
- liaise with Ghana Immigration Service to obtain resident permits for International students and facilitate passport acquisition
- facilitate the organisation of orientation for freshers
- be in attendance at Academic Board Meetings liaise with Academic Affairs to organise Matriculation
- supervise and manage staff of the Office.
The Division service the following Boards/Committee (Directorate of Student Affairs’ Management Board, Student Financial Services Management Board, International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience – IAESTE).
The Division, which has one (1) section (Student Affairs/Student Financial Services) also has oversight responsibility over administrative staff in the Counselling Centre and the Chaplaincies. The functions of the Centre include to;
- provide general counselling services and training to members of the University Community and the general public
- assist the Head of Counselling Centre in the day to day administration of the Centre
- be responsible for all counselling issues in the Colleges
- assist the SRC and other student organisation as resource person/facilitator for students’ programmes; serve as resource person for Freshers Orientation;
