College Registrar, College of Engineering
A product of Aburi Girls Secondary School, where she obtained both her Ordinary and Advanced level certificates in 1989 and 1991 respectively, Mrs. Ida Saeed is a Deputy Registrar currently serving as the College Registrar of the College of Engineering.
She holds a BA (Hons) Geography and Sociology degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. She obtained an MBA (General Management) from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom in 2002.
Ida began her career in Higher Education Administration as the Assistant Secretary Public Relations with the Kumasi Polytechnic, now Kumasi Technical University in 2003. In 2004, she joined her Alma mater, KNUST as an Assistant Registrar and served at the School of Medical Sciences, College of Science and the International Programmes Office under the Vice-Chancellor’s Offices.
She has served on a number of Statutory and Ad hoc Committees of the University as Member/Secretary and has significant experience in Research Administration having worked on the Building Stronger Universities Project (BSU II) and the E- Learning / Problem Based Learning Project. Both projects were funded by DANIDA. She also administered the Climate Impacts Research Capacity Leadership Enhancement (CIRCLE) Programme, funded by UKAID for the three year period it run at KNUST, from the beginning of 2015 through to 2017.
She served as the Senior Hall Tutor of Africa Hall, the then all female Hall in the University between 2013 and 2015. By dint of hard work, she was re-elected to serve another two-year term between 2015 and 2017 and won many awards during her service.
She was promoted to the rank of a Senior Assistant Registrar in 2011 and recently to Deputy Registrar in October, 2020.
Ida has authored and co-authored several memoranda leading to change and improvement of work in the University.
Some of her recent memos include
- the first draft of the KNUST Visitor Policy;
- A Review of the Policy Guidelines for the use of the Great Hall;
- A Proposal for the Review of the less endowed admissions Policy;
- Traffic Congestion at the Basic Schools;
- Transfer of International Association for the Exchange of Student’s for Technical Experience (I.A.E.S.T.E.) activities from the Student Affairs and Financial Services Office to the International Programmes Office;
- Periodicals; and
- Immigrant Quota among many others.
